    West Penn Hospital Hiring Event

    West Penn Hospital is hiring and its top recruiters will be available to meet with job seekers on March 11th from 1 – 2:30 p.m. at the Bloomfield-Garfield Community Center, located at 113 N. Pacific Avenue.  This session will help interested applicants with the application and interview process as well as providing information on West Penn Hospital, the Allegheny Health Network and what positions are available.  Anyone interested in attending should register by contacting the Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center (ENEC) at 412-465-0425.

    Allegheny Valley School Hiring

    Allegheny Valley School, a member of the NHS Human Services family, is currently seeking direct care workers, LPN’s and RN’s for their group homes in Allegheny, Beaver and Butler Counties.  Allegheny Valley School was established in 1960 to care for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Since then, the school has grown into a multi-faceted organization with programs and facilities serving more than 900 children, adults and senior citizens.  Most of the residents are diagnosed with severe or profound intellectual disabilities and most also have multiple physical disabilities and medical complications and some have behavioral management needs.  Allegheny Valley School currently operates more than 125 programs and facilities in nine counties in Pennsylvania and employs more than 2,300 people.

    Garden Resource Center Site Coordinator, Part-Time

    Application (PDF or Word Doc) due Monday March 2, 2015.

    The Garden Resource Center (GRC) is a tool lending library and materials depot that opened in the fall of 2014. The GRC stocks a wide range of gardening tools and materials that are vital to creating and maintaining healthy food gardens.  Local backyard and community gardeners can access these resources for a small annual membership fee.

    Grow Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated individual to help staff and improve the GRC.

    Pittsburgh Civic Leadership Academy Enrollment
    ServePGH is teaming up with the Community Affairs Office to offer another session of the Civic Leadership Academy (CLA) this upcoming spring.  The Civic Leadership Academy is a free 10-week course that encourages more informed, effective and inspired community and civic leadership by giving city residents an opportunity to learn about their local government. In this program, participants will get a chance to meet with Department Directors and staff, and all Pittsburgh residents over 18 years of age are eligible to apply.
    Applications are currently being accepted for the Spring 2015 session which will begin on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 and conclude on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 In addition, this year, in accordance with the new Welcoming Pittsburgh initiative, the CLA is reserving 15 spots for new Americans.

    Executive Administrative Assistant
            The duties and administrative functions will require confidentiality, initiative, sound decision-making, independent judgment and delivering a high level of customer service. 
             Minimum of 4 years of related executive administrative experience required. 5 or more years of executive administrative experience highly preferred. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration
    ·         Organize and schedule meetings; coordinate activities; schedule travel itineraries.
            Coordinate Executive meetings, telephone conference calls and departmental meetings as well as meetings with external parties.
            Interact in a highly professional manner and communicate daily with executive staff, external contacts / clients as well as corporate – wide personnel.
            Answer the telephone, open and screen mail (as directed), maintain office supplies, prepare, type and proofread general correspondence and documents, organize, maintain, and file correspondence, documentation and presentations.
            Gather and sort daily deliveries, incoming and outgoing mail.
            Must possess superior written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask, and work in a fast paced environment.  Must have superior computer-related skills, to include proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite.  Ability to review and assess materials to identify potential errors. 
            Ability to solve practical problems through standardized solutions.  Ability to follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve routine problems.

    The Citizen Science Lab

    At this lab students in grades 6-12 can attend after school programs and weekend workshops to explore the life sciences through highly interactive, hands-on experiences.

    Designed to accommodate a variety of interests and skill levels, up to 16 students can conduct experiments in our state-of-the-art laboratory under the guidance of professional scientists.
